Ways to Lower Your Stress, part IV
How many of my stress relievers have you tried!?!

~ Don’t have money for a massage or a real vacation? Take a time-out. Instead of leaving your house, just don’t leave your house. Have a day where you stay in, keep things quiet, catch up on your TV shows, podcasts and NetFlix movies and just be. Don’t do anything “required, and just be. Essentially, have a quiet day!
~ Goof around. Take your best friend, wander down a main street in your town singing “Stop In the Name of Love and dance. Hopefully you’ll get yelled at by an intoxicated homeless man … that will make you laugh even harder than singing down the street. (Yes, this has actually happened to me … this week in fact!) The laughing with your friend will be a stress reliever and the walk will burn some calories! If you’re not brave enough to sing aloud, just walk down the street and do some people watching.
~ Put on a spa-night at your own home. Make some simple sugar scrubs, put cucumbers on your eyes, and enjoy this very simple relaxation technique. If you can, soak in a very hot bathtub with only candles lit. If you have no candles, turn the bathroom light off, leave the door half-way open, and leave a light from another room on. I find I relax more when I’m in the bath and the light isn’t on full blast.
~ Read a book. Escape into another world with an adventure novel. Imagine being with the man of your dreams in one of those trashy romance books. Laugh through a David Sedaris book. I find that reading is about the only way I can regularly put myself to bed at night as it’s such a powerful stress reliever for me.
