Talk about Balance…

by

I’ve made no bones about the fact that I have anxiety issues.  And, one of the things that makes my anxiety a bigger issue than it ought to be is the simple chaos that children bring to your lives.  They are so unpredictable and you simply can’t control another human being but to a certain degree.  They sleep when they are sleepy and not before.  They eat when they are hungry and what they like and you could drive yourself nuts trying to make that different.

And, certainly, one of life’s biggest issues in my face right now is that children will use the bathroom when they want and for the most part, where they want.  I have a 4.1 year old who refuses to use the potty.

Now, I don’t want advice on how to do it because there’s quite the comedy routine going on as EVERY ONE  knows the best way to do it.  But, right now, I really am not at a point where I am willing to make my life miserable and his.  Suggestions are wonderful, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that the normal procedures didn’t work.  The hard core stuff is not where I am right now.  So, I’m just saying, that this is something that will cause anxiety.

So, with that, the time has to come that you strive for Balance.  Stephanie Vora, a Life Coach, has some suggestions that I found on Mom to the Screaming Masses and she found on Blogher.  Her challenges to achieve balance were:

1.    Do you go to sleep at night feeling rewarded by what you did that day?
2.    Do you look forward to getting up in the morning?
3.    Are you in control of your stress and anxiety at work? At home?
4.    Are you proud of what you do for a living?
5.    Are you happy with the amount of time you set aside to do the things you love?
6.    Are you spending enough quality time with loved ones?
7.    Are you proud of how you take care of yourself both physically and mentally?

So, I figured I might as well throw my answers out there to these challenges….tomorrow!
